President Trump to Halt Funding toward WHO over coronavirus 'failure'

During the news conference that held on Tuesday at the White house, President US, Donald Trump mentioned that in response to the COVID-19 Outbreak, WHO had failed in it’s basic duty.

He also accused UN Body have mismanaging as well as covering up the virus outbreak after once it’s discovered in China and it must be held accountable. Previously, President Trump mentioned that WHO have been biased toward China.

President Trump’s main criticism toward WHO was its “China-centric” failure to investigate credible reports from sources in Wuhan about the outbreak of the virus. Based on WHO Website, US is the biggest single funder of WHO, and last year they provided $400m while China assessed contribution was around $76m and $10m in voluntary funding.

 

Speaking in the White House rose garden, The US President said: “With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have deep concerns whether America’s generosity has been put to the best use possible. The reality is that the WHO failed to adequately obtain, vet and share information in a timely and transparent fashion.”

President Trump added: “If US cannot trust them, if this is what we will receive from the WHO, US will be forced to find other ways to work with other nations to achieve public health goals.”

Currently, US confirmed COVID-19 case have been far surpass the confirmed case in China. The US president has himself come under criticism at home over his handling of the outbreak.
