Power Outages in Jakarta and surrounding areas, the National Electricity Center Refuses Sabotage Issues

Jakarta, Indonesia – It is reported that on Monday (8/4/19), there was power outages incident since 11:45 am which caused the areas in Greater Jakarta, West Java and Central Java to dark out. Managing Director of PLN Sripeni Inten Cahyani stated that Cahyani the power outages occurred due to interference on the transmission side of Ungaran and Pemalang 500 kV. This resulted in a failure of energy transfer from east to west, and nothing to do with political or sabotage in Indonesia.

It is reported that failure to transfer energy from east to west is causing trouble in all power plants on the middle and west sides of Java, and this electricity interference was solely related to technical problems.

Cahyani said that his team will carry out an internal investigation for the next 2-3 months involving an independent party. For starters, PLN will look for causes of disruptions that cause power outages from day to night.

However, the search for the cause of this issue will be carried out comprehensively, while for the investigation, an independent team will be appointed as the executor. A thorough investigation will be carried out because the impact caused by power outages was extraordinary, and definitely disturbing several economy sectors in Indonesia.

It is reported that the power outages also occured in other areas including West Java, caused by the interruption of the transmission of 500 kV Sutet. Areas affected by power outages included Bandung, Bekasi, Cianjur, Cimahi, Cirebon, Garut, Karawang, Purwakarta, Majalaya, Sumedang, Tasikmalaya, Depok, Gunung Putri, Sukabumi, and Bogor.
