Possible of Causing Damages, California is hit with 6.4 Magnitude Earthquake

San Bernardino County, California – Apparently, during the independence day on Thursday (7/4), a 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit Southern California near the Searles Valley in San Bernardino County and the earthquake was in a shallow area at a depth of 5.4 miles (8.7 kilometers) in a large desert area in Mojave Desert.

USGS seismology Rob Graves said that, the earthquake has a potential to cause a lot of damage. This statement is supported by the San Bernardino County Fire Department as they reported no injuries to residents around the epicenter. However, there was a lot of damage in several places in California.

According to LAPD, the vibration reached Los Angeles area. However, it was unclear whether the earthquake caused major damages as the Los Angeles International Airport reported that the runway was not damaged, with operations continuing as usual.

Mayor Ridgecrest Peggy Breedon told CNN that, objects were falling from buildings and hit the people and destroyed the city and they also felt some aftershocks no longer after the huge earthquake.

She stated that, buildings got small cracks, broken water lines, power lines down and also rockslides on certain roads. She also said that they are used to earthquakes but they are not familiar with this significance as California is the most populous state in the US and they are currently still evacuating the citizens.
