Plus-Size Mannequins Now Can Be Found at Nike’s London Store

Nike has just introduced plus-size and para-sport mannequins at its London’s flagship store on Wednesday. According to a press release by the global sportswear company, the introduction is a signal to a further step in celebrating diversity and inclusivity of the sport. The mannequins are displayed on the redeveloped women’s floor of NikeTown London, which is the largest Nike store in the world.

In a statement about the plus-size mannequins launching, Sarah Hannah, Nike's general manager and vice president for women in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa said that the redesigned space shows Nike’s commitment and dedication to serve and inspire female athletes.

With this move, Nike follows other retailers who have previously displayed mannequins with inclusive sizes, such as Old Navy, Debenhams, and Nordstrom.

In 2017, the sportswear brand also collaborated with a plus-size model, influencers, and athlete including Paloma Elsesser, Grace Victory, Danielle Vanier, and Amanda Bingson in its plus-size initial introduction campaign which offering size range from 1X to 3X. Later in 2018, Nike again launched a long-term collaboration with influencer Grace Victory who representing the Nike Plus Collections. She also noted the partnership with positivity and optimism through her Twitter page saying this would be a platform for her to create a different narrative to exercise—paying close attention to the connection between body image, exercise, and mental health.
