Plane crash, 2 Vietnamese Military Pilots Lost Their Lives

Vietnam - Even though Vietnam has a good civil aviation record, unfortunately, on Friday (6/14), two Vietnamese military pilots were killed in a plane crash while doing a routine training when the Russian-made Yakovlev Yak-52 aircrafts they used for training hit a mountain in Khanh Hoa Province.

According to AFP, Nguyen Ngoc Khue as head of the local commune said that, the crash site was temporarily closed for the need of investigation by the police. Several pictures from the state media also showed a cloud of smoke rising from Russian planes which had fallen in this plane crash.

He also added that, one of the pilots died instantly while the other died on the way to the hospital in the car.

It is reported that, Vietnam is currently trying to renew its military equipment by buying materials not only from Russia, but also from France, Germany and Israel. They're also planning to buy some equipments from the US, even analysts predicted Vietnam will approve the US offer, however, they might have to struggle as the US defense equipment is very expensive, and Trump hasn't made a deal with the Vietnam government yet.

Accidents on military aircraft and helicopters in Vietnam often occur in recent years. In July 2018, at least two pilots were killed during military training in Nghe An Province. They used a Russian-made Sukhoi Su-22 aircraft belonging to the Vietnam Air Force.
