PKS: State Secretariat is proposing revisions for 158 points in omnibus law

A member of the House of Representatives Legislation Body (Baleg DPR RI) and lawmaker from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Mulyanto, revealed Friday in a written statement that the Ministry of State Secretariat (Setneg) has proposed revisions on 158 points in the draft of the omnibus law on job creation per 16 October recall.

Hence, the revision caused the pages of the omnibus law to change. It is known that the draft of the omnibus law on job creation was added to 1,187 pages from the previous 812 pages when submitted by DPR on 14 October. The PKS lawmaker confirmed that the omission of the UU No. 22 Article 46 of 2001 regarding Oil and Gas from the omnibus law draft received by the Merdeka Palace was a request from the decision of the working committee (Panja) before the controversial law was ratified by DPR on 5 October. However, Mulyanto stated that the DPR's omnibus version with 812 pages only removed a verse of the said Article 46.

Mulyanto said that the revisions on the omnibus law on job creation seen after the ratification was too rushing. There were inaccurate redaction, scattered substances, and typos. Hence, Mulyanto stated that it might raise the public's doubt whether the omnibus law could be accepted with such errors.

Previously, the Minister of State Secretariat, Pratikno, did not deny that there was a difference in the page number of the draft submitted by DPR and the revised version. According to Pratikno, the addition to 1,187 pages was due to the format adjustment and technical proofreading. The State Secretariat Minister assured that despite the page number difference, the substance of the job creation law does not change.
