People Call Bella Hadid 'Racist' Over an Instagram Post

Bella Hadid’s Instagram story post was a boomerang for her. The 22 years-old model went under the fire after posting an Instagram story of her showing her shoes at an airport.

Hadid was at an airport lounge and was waiting for her flight. As many people would do, she took pictures and posted one of the on the Instagram story. However, the photo back fired her. Not long after her post, a #BellaHadidIsRacist tag went viral on the internet. Why are people so mad to her post?
It turned out that Hadid posted a picture of her shoes that propped up against the window of a viewing area. Outside the building, there are a few airplanes which have Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates’ flag on the tail. People thought that Hadid was mocking the countries by ‘kicking’ the flags.

Hadid’s father is a Palestinian, which made her under the fire and accused for doing this on purpose of politics. However, she wrote clarification posts on her Instagam story. The first one stated how she did not mean to ‘kick’ the flags because she did not realize about the background. She also apologized on the post, saying that she apologized for the misunderstanding especially for Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.

In her other post, Hadid also stated that she is care so much about the Muslim and Arab side of her family. Hence, she felt that she had disappointed her family as well.
