Passenger Banned for Life After Vaping on Flight

An American ultra-low cost carrier, Spirit Airlines, just banned a passenger for life after he decided to smoke in the plane’s bathroom.

The unidentified Florida man, 30, was spotted taking a drag from e-cigarette and exhaling the smoke into a sickness bag by a flight attendant on Flight NK 985 from Detroit to New Orleans. According to the police report, the man was told off for his wrongdoing but ignored the advice and headed for the restroom instead. Soon after, the smoke alarm went off.  In order to turn off the alarm, the plane’s pilot had to descend the flight to 35,000 feet.

After arriving at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, the man met a police officer for a probe. Yet he denied smoking and claimed that he did not know smoking was prohibited on flights. The officer said that the man was cooperative with the police so that he was not arrested and did not face any criminal charges but was banned for life as a customer by the airline.

It is also reported that another passenger complained to the flight attendant that the man was not only smoking but had been drinking from his own supply bottles of alcohol he brought on board—which is also prohibited by the flight regulations.
