Parting ways with Microsoft, Huawei's Matebook installed with Deepin Linux

No Microsoft? No problem, says Huawei. All tech experts’ attention is pointed to Huawei. Since being put into blacklist by the U.S administration, Huawei would need a license to do business with its American counterparts.

While Huawei could support itself in terms of hardware and spare parts, software and application are a different story. Matebook, Huawei’s affordable notebook, cannot run on Windows anymore since it is part of Microsoft, an American company. So, how could Huawei get away with this?

Selling its Matebook 13, 14, and X Pro at VMall, they are pre-installed with Deepin Linux. An open-source operating system (OS), Deepin - a Chinese exclusive - allows Huawei to modify its OS. Furthermore, Deepin features its latest Cloud Sync, allowing you to store your Matebook setting into Deepin’s server if you want to set it up on other computers. In terms of aesthetic, the Deepin Desktop Environment is called the “most beautiful” by some reviewers.

Matebook 13 and 14 series got 300 yuan (US$ 42) discount. However, it is said that the price is tentative. Besides, it is still unknown whether Huawei would ship their Matebooks to outer China, considering the ongoing trade war between the U.S and China.

Tech geeks all over the world are hailing and expecting Matebook series to be distributed globally, saying that it “oozes” quality and the quality outmatches the price.
