Oppo, Vivo beat Samsung in Indonesia, how?!

On Thursday, smartphone shipment experience data from International Data Corporation (IDC) Indonesia showed that Samsung is weakening in Q3; from July to September 2019. Once the king of smartphones in Indonesia, the position is now snatched by Oppo and Vivo, placed on 1st and 2nd places respectively.

While sitting in the 3rd place, Samsung is pressed by two Chinese tech giants, Xiaomi and Realme. Here is the full line-up of the ranking:

1. Oppo (26,2 percent)
2. Vivo (22,8 percent),
3. Samsung (19,4 percent),
4. Realme (12,6 percent), and
5. Xiaomi (12,5 percent).

In the Q2 of 2019, Samsung showed a magnificent performance. It received first place in the Indonesian market with 26.9 percent of shipping to Indonesia according to the Quarterly Mobile Phone Shipment report by IDC for Q2 2019. Here was the previous line-up of the ranking:

1. Samsung (26,9 percent)
2. Oppo (21,5 percent)
3. Vivo (17 percent),
4. Xiaomi (16,8 percent), and
5. Realme (6,1 percent).

Some tech analysts stated that Samsung’s A flagships dominated middle (Rp2.7 – Rp5.5 million) and premium (Rp5.6 – Rp8.4 million) for Q1 and Q2 2019. Since the beginning of 2019, Samsung had already launched from A10 to A80 as the counterattack for Chinese smartphones flooding the middle segment.

However, the A flagship also became the downfall for Samsung. While it stores the latest features, the difference between the current and previous generations is not that much. It was evident when the stock for Samsung’s A flagship still flooded the market.
