Ohtani Shohei blasts his first homer of the season

Major League Baseball two-way star Ohtani Shohei of the Los Angeles Angels has belted his first home run of the season.

Ohtani's solo homer, which came back-to-back after Mike Trout's two-run round-tripper, helped the Angels defeat the Oakland Athletics 6 to zero on Sunday.

The Japanese player started the season's third game in the Athletics' home stadium in Oakland as a designated hitter, batting third in the lineup.

He failed in his first and second at bats, with a center-field liner and a strikeout. But in his third at bat in the fifth, he blasted a 136-meter homer, hitting the centerfield screen directly.

In the sixth inning, he came to the plate again with two outs and bases loaded, but struck out swinging against a fastball.

Ohtani left the game in the ninth inning. He went one for four on the day, with one RBI.
