Nursing Home Alleged Beating, Ex-Worker Arrested

TOKYO - Honor thy parents, by not beating them up. Everyone agrees that sometimes crankiness and every single thing of the elderly people can be very annoying. But, of course, no matter how ridiculous and annoying their requests are, we have to put up with their antics because we remember to honor them for the rest of our life. One of which is by not putting them in nursing home. Treat them yourselves, or you might find their name in obituary.

The concept was not the same for Tomoki Nemoto, 28, who once worked in Sunny Life Kita-Shinagawa nursing home, Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo, when he beat an elderly at night. Ironic as the nursing home should be “sunny” as its name, instead of “shady”.

This cowardly act was then smelled by the police and they arrested the ex-worker. Nemoto denied that he used any violence to the elderly, who was identified to be Kihachiro Kurosawa, 82.

Nemoto was on the night duty, when he allegedly beat Kurosawa by kicking the elder in the stomach. Then, he made an emergency service for Kurosawa, seemingly afraid of his nasty deeds. Nonetheless, Kurosawa passed away the following day, followed by Nemoto’s resignation from the nursing home.

The police found a footage of the crime showing the violent act. Accompanied by an autopsy stating that the Kurosawa died because of internal organ bleeding and broken right rib, Nemoto’s odd resignation, and Kurosawa’s last message before breathing his last that he was “kicked by a man”, the police just had enough evidences to charge Nemoto guilty for his deeds.

Japanese really needs to be selective when it comes to treating people of early and elderly age. Remembering the case last week when an English instructor beat a child to trauma, this man beat an old man to death. The two cases involved children and elder as their victim. Polar difference, same message.

As country that upholds moral value and integrity, Japan really needs to re-educate its people to honor and uphold moral value toward each other.
