North Korea: Vietnam Talk Was Trump’s Fault

The talk broke down as it began. In February 2019, the President of The United States, Donald Trump, and the supreme leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, met at a summit in Hanoi, Vietnam, in order to discuss about denuclearization (from USA) and about sanctions (from N. Korea). However, the talk ended earlier than expected, because both of the leaders could not reach an impasse.

Trump claimed that Kim Jong-un would have agreed to denuclearize, had the sanctions been lifted. However, he added that by complying to the demands meant to dismantle the whole weaponry. Kim Jong-un was not having it. If he did not want to have it, then Trump had to call it off.

The talk ended without any agreement, and the tension grew even larger. One N. Korean negotiators, Choi Son-hui, even stated that after the negotiation ended prematurely, dissatisfaction was seen at the expressions of both leaders.

But, Kim Jong-un’s expression was worth noting, as she added that the supreme leader’s interest in negotiating went slimmer as the negotiation did not go anywhere as planned.

All fingers pointed at Trump. Just Friday (24/5), N. Korean spokesperson blamed it all to Uncle Sam for the failed negotiation. He claimed that US purposefully added impossible terms into the talks to make the talk break down. In other words, the spokesman just wanted to say that maybe America is a country that “loves to war”. While, on the other side, N. Korea was ready to send back all the American they kept back to the land of the “brave and free”.

He added that if America’s reaction toward N. Korea grew hard, N. Korea’s reaction would be even harsher. N. Korea is a country well known for its firm stand in terms of politics, and it was stated that even if American uses its weaponry and advanced devices, it would not move them a bit.

Michael D. Cohen, Trump’s lawyer and fixer, was even against Trump by saying that Trump kept prolonging things by spouting lies.

While both countries are trying to settle new agreement, Japan and South Korea are trying to prevent World War III, which means nuclear war a.k.a. the end of the world. Trump stated that the America is still open for the talks and the relationship between him and Kim is still in good terms.

South Korea, on the other hand, wants to reconcile with its neighbor and to facilitate the peace talk between America and North Korea.

With Trump’s visit to Japan today, Shinzo Abe put nuclear and N. Korea’s abduction case as priority.
