North Korea notifies IMO of its plan to launch satellite from May 31 to June 11

Japanese government sources say North Korea has notified the International Maritime Organization of its plan to launch what it calls an artificial satellite between May 31 and June 11.

They say the North actually plans to launch a ballistic missile under the pretext of putting a satellite into orbit.

Japan is strongly urging Pyongyang to refrain from launching it while stepping up monitoring.
