Next Summer Swimming World Championship Fukuoka Tournament Postponed

In response to the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics, the International Federation of Swimming announced on the 4th that it will postpone the world swimming championship scheduled for Fukuoka next summer in May next year. The World Championships for Swimming is an international competition that is held every two years, and the next competition was scheduled to be held in Fukuoka City from July 16th next year. The new tournament schedule will be 17 days from May 13th to 29th next year. The International Federation of Swimming has commented, This decision is the best we can do for all the participants now.

We look forward to seeing the world's best athletes compete in Fukuoka in 2022. All events will be held in the city without reducing the number of competition events and the number of competition days. There is no change in the venue, and the swimming and artistic swimming are at Marine Messe Fukuoka, and the water polo is the newly-established Marine Messe Fukuoka B Building. Diving is done at Fukuoka International Center, open water swimming, high diving is done at Seaside Mochi Kaihin Park.

In September 2018, the Organizing Committee of the Games decided to schedule from July 16th to August 1st, 2009, but due to the schedule being overlapped with the Tokyo Olympics which will be postponed for one year, we will discuss changes with the International Swimming Federation.
