New Corona Vaccine: Priority Vaccination of Self-Defense Forces Medical Personnel Begins

While the "priority vaccination" of medical personnel against the new coronavirus is underway, the vaccination of doctors, nurses, "medical officers" and "nursing officers" working in the Self-Defense Forces began on August 8.


The priority vaccination for SDF medical personnel started at the SDF Central Hospital in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo.


After the inoculation, they waited for about 15 minutes to observe the progress of the inoculation to see if there were any adverse reactions.


All 1,000 employees of the Self-Defense Forces Central Hospital, including administrative staff, are supposed to receive the vaccination, and on the 8th, five people, including the hospital director Koji Fukushima, received the vaccination on a trial basis to confirm the procedure.


According to the Ministry of Defense, a total of 14,000 people in the Self-Defense Forces are eligible for priority vaccination, including medical officers and nurses working at Self-Defense Forces hospitals across the country, as well as troop medics and personnel engaged in the emergency transport of patients on remote islands.


The director of the Self-Defense Forces Central Hospital, Mr. Fukushima, said, "The vaccination will start in earnest from tomorrow, so we will manage the vaccine well and proceed with the vaccination while paying attention to adverse reactions.
