Multiple-vehicle Crash in Central Tokyo Injures 5

TOKYO – A multiple-vehicle crash happened in central Tokyo on Tuesday morning, May 21. According to police, the accident happened at about 9.45 a.m. This accident happened at the crossroad in the capital’s Shimbashi business district. When it happened, the morning rush has just over, but there were still quite a lot of people at the street and crossroad.

It was all started when a truck driver ignored a red light. As the truck didn’t stop at the red light, the truck collided into the passersby. Not only the passersby, it also hit a passenger car and a bus. Another truck and a tour bus that were waiting for the traffic light in the opposite lane, also became the victim of the crash.

The male truck driver is in his 30s, and immediately bought to the office for the further investigations. However, the driver was injured. Other wounded victims were the male driver of a passenger car who is in his 40s, as well as three passersby—aged 20s to 50s. However, luckily, none of the victims were seriously injured. Nevertheless, some of the victims were taken to the hospital.

The tour bus was carrying 40 preschool children, as they were on a school trip. Thankfully, none of the preschool children were injured.
