More than 500 Singapore entrepreneurs participated in Indonesia Investment Day

On Saturday, the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore organized the second Indonesia Investment Day (IID) to invite Singapore businessmen discussing over investment opportunities in Indonesia. The event conducted at the Hotel Ritz Carlton Millenia in Singapore was attended by Over 500 Singapore entrepreneurs.

Indonesia’s local governments of West, Central, and East Java participated in the event together with provincial officials of North Sumatra, North Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, and Jakarta.

Indonesia offered two main investment project packages, 4.0 tourism, and infrastructure, during the second IID’s comprehensive panel discussion and parallel session with key speaker Vice Foreign Minister of Indonesia A.M. Fachir.

According to a report published on Saturday, Indonesia is going to create 10 new tourist destinations as the “New Bali” regarding investment in the industry 4.0 tourism. While in infrastructure, Indonesia’s government will focus on the MRT system, housing, toll roads, and water management.

Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) for the Singapore Committee along with Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) and Singapore Business Federation (SBF) were on the side of Indonesian Embassy to hold the event.

In Joko Widodo’s second term in office, one of his commitments is to attract foreign investments to Indonesia. In the last five years, Singapore is Indonesia’s biggest investor. The country’s investment in Indonesia was worth US$43.2 billion during 2013 – 2018.

According to Indonesia’s Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto, new investments from Singapore reached US$5.04 billion in the first half of 2018, which was an increase of 38 percent from the previous year.

Previously, both of the two leaders agreed to create Batam as a “digital bridge” with developing Nongsa Digital Park in Batam to connect Singapore to Indonesia, according to Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Ngurah Swajaya.

Digital economy and industrial revolution 4.0 can raise potential partnership between Indonesia and Singapore, said the ambassador.
