More convenient, Google Play adds GOJEK’s Go-Pay as the newest payment option
Good news for Android users in Indonesia, since Go-Pay – GOJEK’s digital payment is now officially available on Google’s Play Store. So far, Google Play Store has provided users with various payment methods, including Google Play voucher, credits card, and phone credit.With the joining of Go-Pay, it becomes the latest payment option on the Google Play Store. Credits card is mostly used to purchase an app on Google’s Play Store, however, not all of Indonesia’s users have the card. Therefore, the new payment option will be convenient for users to do an in-app purchase.
Since the number of Go-Pay’s user is large, the new feature is also expected can boost the Play Store sales.
On the other side, GOJEK sees this as an opportunity to attract Go-Pay’s new users. Becoming part of the Google Play Store will give a chance for GoPay developing in a big market segment. On June 2019, the share of Android-based phones in the Indonesian mobile market reached 93,22%, according to Statista, a German online portal for statistics.

Earlier on February 2019, Indonesia’s ride-hailing unicorn Gojek announced its ongoing funding round has raised S$1.3 billion. The fund was led by Google’s Alphabet Inc along with Tencent Holdings and JD.com Inc.
Competing with its rival Grab, a Singapore-based ride-hailing Unicorn, GOJEK plans to expand its services beyond the Southeast Asian. On June 2019, Indonesia’s ride-hailing startup reportedly has required an India-based AI recruitment platform, AirCTO.
The AirCTO will help GOJEK to recruit premium talent in order to assist the development of the startup’s super apps.
