Money Allocation to Strengthen The Medical Support System
The government has decided to allocate about 1.6 trillion yen from the reserve fund to strengthen measures against the new coronavirus infection. Supporting medical institutions and strengthening the examination system are the pillars. In preparation for the simultaneous epidemic of influenza and the new corona, we will assist medical institutions that examine fever patients out patiently, and raise some medical fees for inpatient treatment of corona patients. It will be decided by the Cabinet on the 15th.
For hospitals that accept inpatients of the new Corona, medical fees for moderately ill patients and vacant bed reservation fees for dedicated beds (up to 300,000 yen per day) will be raised. If the local government conducts its own tests on elderly people who do not have symptoms such as fever, it will subsidize half the cost.
On the other hand, they will not provide wide-ranging management support to medical institutions that do not support medical treatment for fever patients such as the new corona and influenza and increase medical fees other than the new corona. These were requested by the Japan Medical Association and others, which are concerned about the decrease in revenues of medical institutions due to refraining from seeing patients.
