Mizuho Bank distributes 5,000 yen worth of money coupons to those affected by system failure

Mizuho Bank has announced that it is distributing 5,000 yen worth of gold coupons as a gift of apology to users who were temporarily unable to withdraw their cash cards and bank books from ATMs due to the system failure that temporarily prevented the use of ATMs nationwide on the 28th of last month.

According to the bank, the 5,000 yen vouchers are being distributed as "Quo Cards" to users in order from the end of this month, along with a letter of apology from the bank's president, Koji Fujiwara.

This includes 5244 cases where cash cards and bank books could not be retrieved from ATMs due to the system failure that temporarily disabled 80% of ATMs nationwide on the 28th of last month and 29 cases where ATMs could not be used due to another system trouble that occurred on the 3rd of this month.

In response to the series of failures, the bank said it would change its ATM system settings to a specification that does not allow passbooks and cards to be retrieved during procedures.

Mizuho Bank says, "We would like to express our apologies for making our customers wait for a long time in the cold weather.
