Mitsubishi Electric plans to take additional measures against the president and others due to a series of inspection fraud problems

Mitsubishi Electric has established a policy of taking additional internal disciplinary action against executives involved, including president Hiroshi Uruma, after a series of problems involving improper product inspections at many factories in Japan. The company will also announce the newly discovered fraud on 20 October 2022.

In the wake of the fraudulent product inspection that was revealed last year, Mitsubishi Electric has investigated all domestic factories by a committee made up of lawyers and others, and so far, 148 cases of inspection fraud has become clear.

Due to this issue, the company disposed of 12 people, including successive presidents, in December last year, but decided to take additional internal measures against related officers such as President Hiroshi Uruma.

After consulting with the board of directors to be held on the 20 October 2022, The company plan to announce any new frauds discovered in the subsequent investigation.
Additional disciplinary action is expected to reduce monthly remuneration according to duties and tenure.
In addition, it is a policy to ask retired officers to voluntarily return their compensation.

In a series of fraudulent problems, former president Takeshi Sugiyama resigned in July last year, and former chairman Masaki Sasayama resigned in October last year.

The company will clarify the management responsibility for the expansion of the fraud by this additional disposition and will thoroughly implement measures to prevent recurrence.
