Mitsubishi Corporation invests in major Indonesian dispatch

GOJEK, Indonesia's largest dispatch service provider, announced that it had received a capital contribution from Mitsubishi Corporation on 2019 February 1st. The total amount of Investment is 1 billion dollars (about 110 billion yen), and the funds will be use to expand business in Indonesia and neighboring countries. The same GRAB (Singapore) is also expanding its business, and the competition of Southeast Asia dispatch two competitors will intensify.

 According to GOJEK announcement, Mitsubishi Corporation invested, and existing shareholders such as Google Inc. and Kyodo group (JD.com) and Rui Jinzhou (Tencent) of China net mail order also added additional investment.

 Mitsubishi Corporation has not announced its contribution amount, but it seems to be several billion yen in scale. The company is engaged in retail and logistics operations, including investing in a management company of "Alfamart", a major convenience store in Indonesia. Mitsubishi Corporation will dispatch one employee to GOJEK and seek collaboration with GOJEK, who also handles home delivery.

In addition to dispatching motorbike taxis and cars using smartphones (smartphones), GOJEK carries out home delivery and electronic money business.

It quickly penetrated mainly in urban areas such as Jakarta in the capital city in about 2 to 3 years. As of the end of 2006, total annualized transaction volume exceeded 9 billion dollars, handling volume reached 2 billion times. We are also expanding overseas to neighboring countries such as Singapore and Vietnam
