Medical expenses window burden raised to 20%

Regarding the burden of medical expenses for medical expenses aged 75 and over, the government has decided to revise the law, such as raising the current principle from 10% to 20% for people with an annual income of 2 million yen or more.

Given that the so-called baby boomer generation will begin to turn 75 or older next year and 2022, and that medical expenses are expected to increase further, the government demands a burden according to income, not age, and all generations are fair. To this end, the government decided at a cabinet meeting on the 5th to amend the law to raise the window burden of medical expenses for people aged 75 and over, which is 10% in principle, to 20% for people with an annual income of 2 million yen or more. did.

In the amendment, in order to curb the sudden increase in burden, consideration measures are provided to limit the increase in self-pay for one month to a maximum of 3,000 yen for three years from the implementation of the increase.

In addition, the timing of the increase will be within half a year from October next year, and the specific schedule will be specified by a Cabinet Order in the future. The government is aiming to pass the revised bill in the current ordinary session of the Diet.
