Man Arrested After Shooting Father With a Crossbow Arrow

HOKKAIDO – A man is under suspicion of attempted murder after shooting an arrow to his father. He shot the arrow from a crossbow.

The suspect, Mamoru Tanii, shot his father at around 10 a.m. on May 11 according to the police. Fortunately, the father, Mamoru Hiroki, only suffered a minor injury as the arrow only hit his lower lip. Hiroki was brought to the hospital, but he was later released. The police also reported that the injury is not a life-threatening.

The incident happened at Tomikawa Gloria Home. That place is a care facility for elderly people, and Hiroki works as a doctor there. Following his father footsteps, the son, Tanii, also works there as a caregiver. Due to the father’s job, the care facility gave the family a home to stay, which is why they are staying at the upper floor of the facility.

Hiroki’s wife told the police that there was an argument going on between the father and the son. It is because Tanii wasn’t satisfied with his work to which lead to the series of arguments with his father. In a community room, Tanii shot the arrow directly to his father.

After the incident occurred, Tanii immediately fled the scene. However, he was found by the police who arrested him.
