Liberal Democratic Party's Mr. Ishizaki, who is briefly indicted on charges of assault, filed a resignation report.
Toru Ishizaki, a member of the House of Representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) who was briefly charged with assault for beating his former secretary, filed a party report at the party headquarters in the morning of May 22.
A man in his thirties, who was Mr. Ishizaki's secretary, filed multiple damages with the Niigata Prefectural Police after June, claiming that he had been assaulted by Mr. Ishizaki multiple times by kicking him multiple times. Mr. Ishizaki said he could not answer the details of the assault charges because they were under investigation.
The Niigata Prefectural Federation has called on the party headquarters to take strict measures, such as the resignation of Mr. Ishizaki and the recommendation to leave the party, but Mr. Ishizaki said, "I want the prefectural government to convey its apologies and understand the idea of continued diet members." But after that, A party committee to discuss Mr. Ishizaki's treatment is scheduled for the afternoon of the same day and is believed to have decided to leave the party prior to the meeting.
After the submission, Mr. Ishizaki told reporters, "I have filed a report of my leaving the party in response to the inconvenience caused by the matter in my office." As for resigning as a member of the Diet, he denied that he would like to fulfill his responsibilities in the future.
Mr Ishizaki was briefly charged with assault on 19 April last month for beating a former secretary in Niigata City in April and May last year. Mr. Ishizaki was elected for the first time in Niigata's 1st district in the 2012 House of Representatives election and is currently in his third term.
