Leisure spending during summer vacation: 68,000 yen per household, the level before the spread of infection
The amount of money spent on leisure activities during this
summer vacation is about 68,000 yen per household due to the increase in the
number of people going on trips, and the survey results show that the new
corona will recover to the level before the spread of infection.
In late June, Meiji Yasuda Life conducted an online survey
of people in their 20s to 50s nationwide, and received responses from more than
1,100 people.
According to this, when asked how much they would spend for
leisure during summer vacation, the average per household was 68,632 yen.
This is about 15,000 yen higher than last year, which was
the lowest ever, and has recovered to the same level as in 2019 before the
spread of the infection.
In addition, 24.9% of the respondents answered that they
plan to increase the amount of money they spend during the summer vacation, and
many people are increasing their spending to go on trips and leisure.
On the other hand, 14.4% of the respondents answered that
they plan to reduce the number, and more than half of them cited the reason
that the household budget became difficult due to soaring prices.
Yuichi Kodama, Fellow Chief Economist at the Meiji Yasuda
Research Institute, said, “The current recovery in consumption is the so-called
revenge consumption in reaction to the coronavirus pandemic, and will gradually
settle down after the summer. We can also see an expansion, so there is a risk
that it will put a damper on the recovery of consumption.”
