KPAI Comments on Video of a Kid`s Tantrum Due to No Internet

Jakarta - The importance of sternly monitoring children operating smartphones was addressed by the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) in order to overcome issues of smartphone or gadget addiction.

KPAI Chairman Santoso called for the monitoring from parents and family members need to be enhanced, especially following a viral video in social media showing a child throwing a tantrum and specifically cried over the absence of internet connection at his parents’ hometown where the child is being taken to.

“In my opinion, the role of the closest people is dearly needed to prevent children from being exposed to the negative side of gadget use,” said Santoso.

He acknowledges that it would be difficult for a child to be raised with zero influence from gadgets but insists that the use of smartphones or any other electronic gadgets must be proportional.

In terms of proportional, Santoso maintained that time and content management is the fundamental aspects upon limiting a child’s use with their gadget.

“There surely needs to be a recovery period for children who are acutely exposed to gadgets in order to avoid prolonged lasting effects,” he said.
