Kia Seltos released in Indonesia

On Monday, the subsidiary company of Indomobil Group, Kreta Indo Artha (KIA) released Kia Seltos. Through a subsidiary company, the South Korean-owned car brand proved that it still got lives in it.

The S. Korean brand once experienced a transition from Kia Mobil Indonesia (KMI) to KIA. Originally, Kia’s brand was held by KMI, established in 1999, as sole agent and Kia’s importer since 2000.

KIA, a joint venture company by Indomobil Sukses Internasional and Sarimitra Kusuma Ekajaya, was established in May 2019. Before Seltos, KIA silently launched the all-new Picanto.

The President Director of KIA, Andrew Nasuri, said the Indian-imported Seltos will be Kia’s “second weapon” to continue its business in Indonesia. Andrew said that Seltos is reserved for tech-savvy youngsters.

For the Indonesian consumers, Kia Seltos is sold on-the-road at around Rp295 million to Rp355 million in three variants.

Kia Seltos is a compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) that houses 1,353 cc turbo engine with 7-G DCT transmission. The car itself made its debut in India’s capital, New Delhi, in late 2019.

With Seltos and the all-new Picanto, President of Indomobil Sukses Internasional, Jusak Kertowidjojo, hoped Kia to stay strong in the Indonesian automotive market. In the future, KIA aims to sell Kia’s products, develop the R&D facilities, and improve the quality of Kia’s after-sales services in Indonesia.
