Kawasaki stabbing spree leaves 2 in cardiopulmonary arrest, 17 more injured

KAWASAKI - Police received a call at around 7:45 a.m. on May 28 that multiple people had been stabbed in this city's Tama Ward.

According to Kanagawa Prefectural Police, 19 people, including children, have been injured. One adult and one child were in a state of cardiopulmonary arrest. Officers have apprehended the suspected perpetrator.

Police said the suspect suffered injuries after stabbing himself near the neck. Two kitchen knives were found at the scene. Some of the victims are believed to be children who were waiting for a school bus in the residential neighborhood.
