KAI provides rapid antigen test for Rp105,000 on the spot

Indonesia's state-owned train operator, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has announced that it will provide rapid antigen test or RT-PCR at each station at Rp105,000 starting today on 21 December 2020.

The EVP Corporate Secretary of PT KAI, Dadan Rudiansyah confirmed the news. He stated that the RT-PCR is the latest effort to enhance KAI's service for its passengers looking to spend their Christmas and New Year's holiday out of town. For the first phase, the RT-PCR will be available at these stations:

1. Gambir;

2. Pasar Senen;

3. Kiaracondong;

4. Cirebon Prujakan;

5. Tegal;

6. Semarang Tawang;

7. Yogyakarta;

8. Surabaya Gubeng; dan

9. Surabaya Pasar Turi.

According to the official press release by PT KAI on Monday, Dadan stated that the RT-PCR provision is sponsored by a synergy of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) between Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (RNI) & KAI and Jasa Prima Putra as a private enterprise. He added that the procedure is a form of KAI's commitment in supporting the Indonesian Government's effort in enforcing health protocols against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak on trains.

Furthermore, Dadan explained that the RT-PCR takes a longer time than the rapid antibody test. Therefore, KAI recommended the passengers to allocate their time to run the test before their departure, at least D-1.

Dadan said that the test service by KAI is an alternative to make it easier for the train passengers. Not only at stations but also the passengers are allowed to use the rapid antigen test from credible hospitals or clinics. In conclusion, he reminded all passengers of keeping strict COVID-19 health protocols while boarding the trains for a safe and sound journey.
