Jokowi to visit Abu Dhabi for lucrative investment

The President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), is expected to depart to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the upcoming 11 January 2020. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi, said that the first state visit of 2020 is meant to “pick up” a US$4 billion investment from the UAE.

For the investment, four investment Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) will be signed:
1. Cooperation in Kilang Refinery project between oil and gas enterprise, Mubadalah, with PT Pertamina (Persero),
2. Cooperation in Balongan Refinery project, the second project from Pertamina that invited Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) as partner,
3. Work agreement between Enterprise Global Aluminium (EGA) and Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum),
4. and, work agreement between PT PLN (Persero) and Masdar in developing floating solar power plant in Cirata Reservoir, West Java.

Retno added that besides investment, Jokowi will also hold a bilateral meeting with the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Mohammed bin Zayed. Next, the President will also meet with the ruler of Emirate of Dubai, Mohammed bin Rashid.

Jokowi’s departure to Abu Dhabi also to fulfill the invitation as a keynote speaker for Abu Dhabi Sustainable Week, held on 11 – 18 January. There, the President will address economic development, sustainable energy, environmental issues, and other topics.
