Jokowi to Release 3 Magic Cards in 2020

JAKARTA - The re-elected President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo – generally known as Jokowi – is not playing dice when it comes to promises and policies. In his campaign for re-election even echoing in the debate, Jokowi stated that he was planning to promote 3 magic cards should he get elected into the Merdeka Palace.

These 3 cards are the Pre-Employment Card, Affordable Staple Foods Card and the Indonesia Smart Card (KIP). A huge allocation of budget is being prepared to make them come true in 2020. Indonesian Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, stated that these cards are going to be included in the 2020 State Budget Draft because State Budget is designated to support the program.

At a conference press on Monday (15/7), Sri Mulyani gave further detail about these cards as follow.

For the Pre-Employment Card, Sri Mulyani stated that about Rp10.3 trillion had been allocated the card. Through the card, the high-school, vocational high-school, university graduates, and even those who got terminated from work can access work courses and training to enhance their skills in order to compete on a bigger market.

While it was tabulated by Central Statistics Bureau (BPS) that Indonesia’s unemployment rating had gone down from 11.24% in August 2005 to 5.34% in August 2018, Indonesia’s unemployment rating remains the worst throughout Asia.

For the KIP: University edition, it was estimated that the student acceptance quota is going to be increased double to about 780,000; hence, it requires more budget as the year passes by with the rise of students’ quota. The initial budget for KIP was Rp4.8 trillion. Now, it had to be added with Rp7.6 trillion.

Meanwhile, for the Affordable Staple Foods Card, the State Budget will allocate about Rp25.7 trillion for 15.6 million families holding the cards in 2020.
