Jokowi ready to be injected by COVID-19 vaccine first

The President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), claimed that he is ready to be the first person to be injected with the vaccine for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Jokowi's bold statement came during a special interview on Tuesday with Rosiana Silalahi on Kompas TV's program.

Jokowi further said that the vaccination should follow the guidance of the responsible team and COVID-19 task force. If the decision has been made, Jokowi is eager to be the first to receive. While he repeated his willingness for the vaccine, Jokowi asserted that to be injected with the vaccine first is not his privilege as a president. Therefore, he urged the Indonesian people not to mistake his willingness as a privilege.

Furthermore, the former Governor of Jakarta and Mayor of Surakarta also stated that currently, the COVID-19 task force has compiled a list of people prioritized for the vaccine which was predicted to arrive in Indonesia by the end of November. These people are prioritized for the sake of their safety and health while working on the field. Jokowi explained that the medical team, doctors, and nurses will be prioritized. Not to mention, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and police, public & civil servants, and teachers will also receive the vaccine first hand.
