Jokowi arrives at Jakarta after state visits to Singapore and Malaysia

President of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana on Friday evening arrived at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta after visiting neighbor countries, Singapore and Malaysia.

According to Presidential Secretariat's Press Bureau, the President and First lady arrived in Jakarta at 10:24 p.m. local time and were welcomed by State Secretary Pratikno.

After landing in Jakarta, President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana went to the Presidential Palace at Bogor.

Earlier on Thursday evening, Jokowi and Iriana flew to Malaysia along with Moeldoko (Chief of the Presidential Staff), Retno Marsudi (Minister of Foreign Affairs), Muhadjir Effendy (Minister of Education and Culture) and Airlangga Hartarto (Minister of Industry).

The president was scheduled to meet the Prime Minister of Malaysia Dr. Mahathir Muhammad on Friday morning. During the meeting, Jokowi and Mahatir talked over Indonesian migrant workers in the country. Borders between Indonesia and Malaysia also was discussed by the two leaders.

The recent issue of a discriminative directive from the European Union (EU) towards Indonesian and Malaysian palm oil was brought up at the meeting.

After finishing the meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister, Jokowi and his entourage departed for Singapore on Friday afternoon. The prime minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong invited President Jokowi to commemorate Singapore’s National Day.

The invitation from Singaporean Prime Minister to President Jokowi was an honor considering the friendship between the two nations, according to the Presidential Secretariat's Press and Media Bureau.
