Jokowi and Iriana visit Labuan Bajo

On Sunday, the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), with the First Lady, Iriana Jokowi, departed from Jakarta to East Nusa Tenggara Province for a working visit.

Departing from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, President and his entourage took off at around 9 a.m. local time with the Presidential Aircraft Indonesia-1. They arrived at Komodo Airport, West Manggarai Regency, at around 11.50 a.m. local time.

Together with the presidential couple, there is The Head of Presidential Secretariat, Heru Budi Hartono; Military Secretary to the President, May. Gen. Suharyanto; Commander of Paspampres, May. Gen. Maruli Simanjuntak, and Presidential Expert Staff, Adamas Belva Syah Devara.

About 825 VVIP joint personnel were dispatched to Labuan Bajo in order to secure the visit. They consist of 455 Army, 40 Airforce, 30 Navy, and 300 police officers.

Heru revealed that President and his First Lady already have agendas until next Tuesday. On Monday, Jokowi will visit the construction site of a multipurpose terminal in Labuan Bajo, and visit Puncak Waringin as well. Jokowi is expected to officially open a state-owned hotel.

Visiting Labuan Bajo, Heru revealed that Jokowi’s visit will focus on the tourism-supporting infrastructure since the regency is one of the five super-priority tourist destinations in 2020. The visit was a follow-up from July 2019.
