Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos Divorce Settlement US$ 38 Billion Worth will be Official this Week
After 25 years of marriage, the founder and CEO of Amazon.com Inc Jeff Bezos’ divorce from his wife MacKenzie Bezos. The divorce was finalized by a Seattle-area judge and she is expected to get US$38.3 billion of the world’s biggest online retailer stock.The couple announced their plan to divorce in a joint Twitter statement in January 2019. MacKenzie Bezos will receive 25 percent of the couple’s stock in Amazon, which is a total of 4 percent stake of the company that amounted US$ 38 billion. Jeff Bezos on the other hand will retain 12 percent stake worth US$ 114.8 billion, will keep the voting control for the company along with his ex-wife’s voting of her shares as well, and remain as the world’s richest person.
The settlement will likely be finalized through this week since the couple announced back in April that there was a 90-day timeline for the settlement, according to The Associated Press.
In May, MacKenzie has pledged to give half her fortune to charity to join the “Giving Pledge”. This campaign was created by billionaire Warren Buffett and Microsoft’s Bill Gates, which encourages people with more fortune to dedicate a majority of their wealth to charitable causes.
