Japanese nationals land on Japan from Wuhan

On Wednesday morning, a jet carrying 206 Japanese nationals arrived in Tokyo having been evacuated from the pneumonia-stricken Wuhan. Not only evacuation but also the plane brought relief and medications for the infected people in Wuhan.

Since Tuesday, there were 650 Japanese nationals who cried out to be evacuated from Wuhan, the place where the novel coronavirus was originated. The second chartered flight to Wuhan will leave Japan on around 8 p.m Wednesday. Further flights are to be arranged by the Japanese government.

In the plane, Japanese medical personnel checked the passengers previously asked to stay indoors for two weeks in Wuhan to avoid infection and be vigilant for any sign of symptoms. The plane arrived at Haneda Airport at around 8.40 a.m. To pick up the passengers, five buses and 20 emergency vehicles were on standby.

After a further check-up, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said that none of the passengers were infected by the novel coronavirus.

However, the Ministry also acquired the information that some passengers showed symptoms such as fever and cough. Therefore, the Ministry planned to quarantine them to the medical facility for infectious disease.

China had imposed a virtual lockdown on Wuhan and other cities in Hubei Province, Central China. The lockdown was seen as an effective measure to contain the coronavirus from breaking out even worse. Currently, the novel coronavirus has claimed 132 lives and infected about 6,000 people throughout China.

Besides Japan, other countries also planned to evacuate their citizens from Wuhan such as the United States (U.S) planning to evacuate its diplomats and nationals on Tuesday and South Korea (S. Korea) on the upcoming Thursday and Friday.
