Japanese manga artist Matsumoto Leiji dies at 85

Japanese manga and anime creator Matsumoto Leiji died of acute heart failure on February 13 at the age of 85.

Matsumoto gained fame as the creator of "Galaxy Express 999" and "Space Battleship Yamato."

His science fiction anime focusing on space and adventure are popular on a global scale.
