A group of volunteers
requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan to provide a uniform cash
benefit of 100,000 yen to Japanese living overseas as well as in Japan.
Regarding the uniform payment of 100,000 yen in cash, the target is limited to
people living in Japan, and for Japanese living overseas, the government is
currently not able to accurately grasp information such as name and address. “There
are people who do not want to return to Japan, so I want to get relief soon”.
In the Cabinet
meeting on the 9th, the Japanese government decided to make an answer to the
“special fixed amount benefit” of 100,000 yen per person provided as an
emergency economic measure for the new coronavirus. There is an opinion within
the Liberal Democratic Party that Japanese nationals abroad should also be
targeted, and the party's chairman, Fumio Kishida, resides overseas on the 5th
of this month for a special fixed benefit payment of 100,000 yen per Japanese
citizen. It was revealed that they are adjusting to add Japanese people.
Aoyama explained to
the Japanese people who proposed overseas benefits to Japanese people who were
living overseas, “Was we abandoned?”, “Although foreigners in Japan have
benefits, they are overseas I think it's strange for the Japanese people to not
receive benefits just because they are in the country”. In the US, one taxpayer
has already paid $1,200 as a measure to support living in Corona, and it was
pointed out that foreigners are not eligible for cash payment. “There are at
least 1.4 million Japanese living abroad”.
