The central and Tokyo governments, however, have started to plan out the solutions for the traffic jam. It is revealed they will introduce variable tools on the Metropolitan Expressway during the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games in order to decrease the number of vehicles going into the tolls during daytime. Not only that, private vehicles that usually going through central Tokyo between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. will be charged an additional 1,000 yen. Lastly, the toll will be halved for any vehicles traveling between midnight and 4 a.m.

These regulations are going to be valid for almost 2 months. This is because The Olympic Games will be held between July 24 and August 9 while Paralympic Games between August 25 and September 6. Hence, commuters are expected to use public transportations to work or any other places.
