Japanese evacuees in Chiba finally return home

When the Japanese nationals returned from Wuhan, they were required to undergo a 14-day self-quarantine to ensure that they are not infected. They were being quarantined at a beachside resort in the city of Katsuura, Chiba Prefecture.

The Japanese government had sent four chartered flights to pick up evacuees in Hubei Province, Central China, the ground zero of the COVID-19. From 206 evacuees on board, two nationals initially refused to be tested. Later, they agreed to follow the procedure.

A piece of good news finally came on Wednesday night when the final test results showed that all 197 evacuees were negative for the virus. Then, they are allowed to return home. During the quarantine, a strict rule was given. The evacuees were not allowed to visit each other’s room and avoid walking in the corridor.

Of course, when the quarantine period was finally over, both the evacuees and the officials were filled with joy.

When countries such as the United States (U.S), France, and the United Kingdom (U.K) had sent the evacuees returning from Hubei to quarantine, Japan did not have the legal framework permitting them to quarantine the evacuees by force.

According to the evacuees, the condition of the resort was comfortable too.

The evacuees understood that the Chiba residents were all worried when they were quarantined in the prefecture. However, gradually, they understood and even gave their utmost supports. When the evacuees finally returned home, the Chiba residents held up a supportive banner to bid them farewell.
