Japan still considers US invitation to join Iran's military coalition

Tokyo, Japan - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe stated that so far the Japanese government is still considering the US invitation to join a military coalition to guard the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waters in Iran and Yemen and will examine it carefully before they make the decision.

However, Japanese media said that US' proposal for the military coalition could be on the agenda when US national security adviser John Bolton visited Tokyo next week and they will give further information after the agreement has signed.

He also stated that on Sunday (21/7) that they have begun to hear the United States think about this and they want to continue to listen carefully and to ease tensions in the region.

It is reported that Japan has good diplomatic relations with Iran as the two countries have established long friendships in terms of business and trading and they want to keep doing the partnership for a long time.

Abe said that Japan will continue to make diplomatic efforts to help stabilize the region, and Abe also considered wanting to speak with Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani to discuss about this military coalition as soon as possible.
