Following the two biggest ride-hailing companies in Southeast Asia, Grab and Gojek, the largest chat app provider in Japan, Line, will expand its Thai’s services in the online grocery sector. Turning out the Japanese company is also eager to enliven the competition of “on-demand services” in Southeast Asia.

Line Man Grocery, the new service of Line, will be launched in Thailand by the end of 2019. According to the CEO of Line Thailand Phichet Rerkpreecha, the new platform allows users to shop foods or other goods online and all of the items ordered will be delivered to them.

Currently, Line Thailand has an on-demand delivery service, named Line Man. Launched in 2016, this app delivers groceries, foods, documents, and packages to customers by motorcycle.

In the previous month, the company announced Line Pay collaboration with Visa in order to expand the delivery services by creating new financial services for Line’s users and sellers all over the world.

Users have access to apply for a digital card of Visa, while merchants can use Line Pay to check their transactions.

Line Thailand is also developing Line Shopping, a platform for buyers and sellers to communicate via chat and verifies users’ account deposits.

Approximately 60 percent of Thai’s population are Line users, which are reportedly around 44 million people, according to the Nikkei Asian Review. As the customer's demands in the region are growing fast, Line commits to expand its business providing the best services to all users.
