Japan's government mulls giving shogi star Fujii Prime Minister's Award
The Japanese government is considering giving the Prime Minister's Award to professional shogi player Fujii Sota.
Fujii won the Oza title series on Wednesday, making him the first player to hold all eight major titles.
The Prime Minister's Award is given to people and organizations that have made great achievements in various fields, including the academic, cultural and sports sectors.
Another top shogi player, Habu Yoshiharu,
received the award in 1996.
