Japan's foreign minister pledges to assist quake-hit Turkey
Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa has pledged to help Turkey rebuild its quake-hit infrastructure in a meeting with his Turkish counterpart.
Hayashi conveyed his condolences to the victims and those affected by February's devastating earthquakes as he met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in Brussels on Tuesday.
He pledged that Japan, as a country that has experienced many quakes in the past, will provide Turkey with quake-resistance technologies, assistance to rebuild its infrastructure and aid to restore its economy and industries.
The Turkish foreign minister expressed gratitude for Japan's offer of assistance.
The two ministers also exchanged views on the situations in Ukraine and other parts of the world. They pledged cooperation in negotiations for an early conclusion of an Economic Partnership Agreement between the two countries.
