Japan PM Kishida to decide new Cabinet, LDP executive lineup on Wednesday

Kishida broke the news to reporters while in India attending the Group of 20 summit and other events. He returned to Japan on Monday morning and will begin working on the reshuffle in earnest. The prime minister is considering retaining Liberal Democratic Party Vice President Aso Taro and Secretary General Motegi Toshimitsu in their posts. He is also planning to appoint Moriyama Hiroshi, chairperson of the LDP's Election Strategy Committee, to a key position in his administration. Moriyama has served as agriculture, forestry and fisheries minister and chairperson of the LDP's Diet Affairs Committee. He is also known for his extensive connections in both the ruling and opposition parties. Observers are watching to see the extent of the reshuffle and whether Kishida will appoint more women to Cabinet ministerial posts.
