Japan closely monitoring N.Korea's possible arms supply to Russia

Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno Hirokazu said the government is closely monitoring the possible supply of weapons by North Korea to Russia.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Matsuno said such a move could violate UN Security Council resolutions banning any transactions of arms and related products with North Korea.

He added that the government is concerned about the move's potential impact on Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

He said the government will continue gathering and analyzing related intelligence and coordinating with the United States, South Korea and other members of the international community. He said Japan will also seek complete implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions along with its partners.
