Jake Patterson gets life sentence for kidnapping teen and killing her parents

Jake Patterson from Wisconsin was sentenced to life prison on Friday, for kidnapping a 13-year-old Jayme Closs and killing her parents after Closs was held for 88 days in a remote cabin.

James and Denise Closs were killed at the family’s home near Barron before Patterson abducted Jayme in October. Patterson then is pleaded guilty in March for intentional homicide and kidnapping. Jayme then escaped from Patterson’s cabin near an isolated town of Gordon in January.
Jayme did not appear in court while her guardian read the statement where Jayme said that she was smarter than Patterson and she wanted to see Patterson “locked up forever”.

Patterson has plotted carefully after he decided Jayme as the girl he was going to take after he saw her getting on a school bus. He killed Jayme’s father while Jayme and her mother hid in the bathroom. Patterson shot both Jayme’s father and mother and wrapped the tape around Jayme’s hands, head and ankles before he threw her in the trunk of his car.

Authorities have collected more than 3.500 tips and searched for Jayme for months. Patterson was arrested minutes after Jayme escaped and flagged down a woman who was walking a dog on January 10th.
