Jakarta government closes 71 companies amid PSBB

Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency (Disnaker) under the Jakarta government claimed that it has closed 71 companies during the first stage of the large-scale social distancing (PSBB) in the capital. PSBB was announced to prevent a larger outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). However, these companies disobeyed and remained operational.

Speaking on Friday, head of Disnaker, Andri Yansah, confirmed the news. There are 12 companies in Central Jakarta, 17 in West Jakarta, 16 in North Jakarta, 3 companies in East Jakarta, and 23 companies in South Jakarta. They were closed from 14 April to 23 April.

Andri stated that these companies had been warned. However, they persisted. Therefore, a firm measure was taken.

Actually, there are at least 502 companies that went against PSBB. However, only 71 were closed. The rest was warned. There are 76 companies that have a permit from the Industry Ministry, therefore allowed to continue.

The first stage of PSBB in Jakarta ran into effect from 10 to 23 April by the Governor of Jakarta, Anies Baswedan. However, there are still violations such as mass gatherings and companies failed to comply with the PSBB. Therefore, Anies decided to extend the period to 22 May.

Speaking on Wednesday, Anies warned all parties to comply with the PSBB or face the law. No more warning.
